We are an informal but confidential group, meeting roughly every two months on a Friday afternoon, 1pm-4pm, in a private room in The Beehive cafe. The group provides a much needed opportunity for people who wish to get together regularly in a friendly social setting to share knowledge and experiences with others who face similar challenges.

My name is Delyth and I have organised this support group.

My partner was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome in 2006 at the age of 44 after we were experiencing communication difficulties in our relationship that we could not resolve. This diagnosis gave us the key to begin to understand how he is affected by autism and to learn how to communicate more effectively with each other and re-establish a healthy relationship.

It is now 2026, 20 years later. Our children have left home and our relationship is entering a new phase as we think about retirement and what we both might need from this stage of our lives together. We are planning to find a therapist who can help us, and I will be sharing with the Why Does group and appreciating the warmth and wisdom of others who are living with similar struggles.

Thank you to everyone who comes along, listens and reflects with kindness.
